About Us

Welcome to Stitch Witch, a creative haven tucked away on Queen Street in Market Rasen, Lincolnshire where wool, yarn, fabric and haberdashery meet a good cuppa, friendly advice, and a whole lot of crafty magic.

When Gail took over the shop almost ten years ago, the previous owner told her she had “the vision to carry the business forward.” She wasn’t wrong. Since then, Stitch Witch has grown into a much-loved part of the Market Rasen community — a welcoming space where creativity, conversation and kindness all come together.

A Crafting Haven for Everyone

Step through the door and you’ll find a treasure trove of wool, yarn, fabric, threads and haberdashery — everything from crochet hooks and buttons to quilting cottons and knitting needles. Whether you’re a complete beginner, a lifelong maker, or simply curious to try something new, you’ll always find a warm welcome here.

Our customers come from all walks of life — knitters, crocheters, sewers, quilters and needlecrafters of every age and ability. Gail and her team are always on hand with advice, ideas and encouragement. If you’re unsure how much yarn you’ll need, we’ll even hold your batch back for a month so you can come back when your project is ready. Because at Stitch Witch, we listen and we truly care.

Creativity thrives when shared, which is why we host regular workshops and community craft sessions.

  • Witch Stitch Wednesday – 2.5 hours of knitting, crochet or sewing tuition (booking essential)

  • Stitchcraft Tuesday (10–12) – bring your own project, £4 including tea, biscuits and good company, drop in session, no need to book.

  • Sit & Sew Wednesday (10–12) – a relaxed morning for makers, £4 with a free cuppa. Drop in session, no need to book.

These sessions aren’t just about stitches and seams, they’re about friendship, laughter and shared creativity.

More Than a Shop

Being part of the Market Rasen community means a lot to Gail. Every September, Stitch Witch hosts a big charity fundraiser supporting local causes close to customers’ hearts. It’s one more way the shop gives back to the people who make it special.

Meet Gail

Gail at Stitchwitch

Gail has been crocheting since childhood, taught by her grandmother, and has over 50 years of crafting experience. She holds a BA (Hons) in Fine Art, loves painting, dancing and is even learning the piano. Crochet and sock knitting are her true passions — but she can turn her hand to just about any craft.

At its heart, Stitch Witch is about helping every customer walk out with confidence, inspiration and the right knowledge for their project. Whether you leave with the perfect yarn, a new skill or simply a smile, you’ll always leave feeling uplifted.
